Hi there,

I'm new to this community and I'm very excited getting started - because quite frankly, I've been putting this off for long enough. Anyway, I'm looking forward to having some support!

Looking forward to posting my progress soon!

I really gave up on the progress reports, didn't I? ;-)
My story has grown insane. I wrote quite a bit but now I had to take some time aside and write some fresh outlnies. The story has mutated quite a bit from what I had originally envisioned. I am still working on the outlnies, but I think I am finally moving in the right direction: I wrote 511 words so far today (only 2k more to go in my WCT, but at least I know what I am going to write).
Someone on the MSN Writer's Library told me that they have heard from the folks who started the site that they have abandoned the effort.
I have not: the sites I founded (The ones not associated with NaNoWriMo) will stay open for mutual encouragement.

01:26 pm - Update
No one told me about http://www.nanowriye.com/. It predates my groups since it looks like it started in 2002, from what it says on the main page.

According to this calendar at timeanddate.com, we start week 27 tomorrow. Considering I have around 42,152 words so far (though granted, that's out of 800k), I'm not faring too badly. A lot of the narrative and incident overlaps, so that's not too bad.

03:10 pm - Not much of a start but...
I did manage to average about 1k per week this month. I should have written more but organizing my ideas and everthing took a bit of time. In the end I decided that I'm writing 4-5 50k novels concurrently: they're all facets of the same story, experienced by different people, different actions/reactions/locations, but all facets of the story are related each to the other.

Plotting is always fun. *gromble, gromble*

09:11 am - Holidays
We have days set aside devoted to different events such as St. Patrick's Day (to honor an historical figure we celebrate the demise? I'd heard this was the say he died. Or is that just the ase with Saints?). We have more local holidays such as Independence Day on February 4 (dedicated to our country's freedom) and Thanksgiving (the first party in the New World [i.e., the United States]) and Bastille Day on July 14 (the French symbol of the monarchy's end and the beginning of the First Republic).
If you're worldbuilding, holidays can sometimes help to move the story along and provide a plot point, depending on the action. If you're not worldbuilding but instead writing reality-based fiction or nonfiction, if action takes place during a holiday it will have some effect upon the action.
If you're writing a fictional piece right now, then what would a holiday celebrating your character be like? What would be the point of the celebration? If non-fiction, then choose someone very important to you, whether historical or contemporary, to create a holiday for; why would you create the holiday? What would it celebrate, and why?

Regards,
Elizabeth Anne Ensley.

05:57 pm - [TLGM] A New Start
108 words, thus far. Granted, it will be added to the 50106 that I wrote during NaNoWriMo and I have to try and write 2500 words per day to have it ready in time for NaNoEdMo,but this story has been an itch in the back of my mind for quite some time now and since 50k fantasy novels aren't exactly marketable (not to mention the two separate but related stories happen concurrently and parallel each other), well....
I wrote the last one from the perspective of Pahil (formerly Guiles, if you've seen my very early draft here. This onewill be from the perspective of the Captain of the king's guard that Guiles is trying (very) to steal the book for.
Now all I need is a vacation in the Bahamas. ;-) I'd settle for London or Tokkyo, too, but...
The only reason I postponed working on the one I'd planned to work on this year is because some stories are just too insistent and since [TLHM] is unfinished business too (neing only half-written) I do need to finish it. That doesn't mean I won't be working on the other one too, it just means the latter might proceed at a slower pace for awhile.

11:31 am - No Good Deed Goes Unpunished Part Deux
Have you ever had something nag at you incessantly?
The book I wanted to write, I'm putting it on the back burner. Instead of writing what I originally had planned to this year, I'm going to work on the other half of my NaNoWriMo.
Just what do I mean by the "other half?
Have you ever had a story nag at you relentlessly until you finally caved? That's what this story's like, and I had originally planned it for a separate book.
Apparently, the characters think otherwise. ;-)
I'm going to start from an earlier point in the story and then progress from there. I know the viewpoint/major character that I want to use, so I might as well proceed with it.
After all, that only leaves me about 4k to catch up with (although I'll try to write a bit more than that to have the whole thing ready for NaNoEdMo).

Okay, I was just randomly browsing interests and came across this.

Last December-break (2004) I wrote 50,000 words in two weeks out of boredom -and- out of the fact that I was writing about something cool. However, it could be a lot longer and needs lots of revision. I've been writing at least 1,000 words a day ever sense, but never as revision on that story. Generally it's just random short stories. I think I'm going to try and find a way to incorperate [them] into the larger novel, however.

SO, I joined! ;o_O I'm not so sure of the specifics of the community though, so someone let me know, please? ^^

By the way, you can call me Kei. ^^

No Good Deed Goes Unpunished
My Week So Far: )
I have done no work on my character species list yet today. I have been too busy replying to email. I have worked out the species name, spelling variations for male and female within the species, and some physical characteristics.
I have also included fodder for the prequel which I will not even touch with a ten-word pole, except for quick notes here and there, and perhaps some snippets, until after I finish writing the story. It is, after all, a separate story, with a separate set of circumstances for the characters and individuals involved.
